Steve Wark Strikes Again
Inside Liberty Watch Today - July 1, 2006

It seems the Assembly District 21 race has got some bazaar twist and turns going on. Sources close to Liberty Watch explained the anointed candidate Kris Munn was promised by Billy Rogers that he would be taking a pass on the District 21 race because he was over-committed and that made Munn as happy as a pig in slop.

Then out of the blue, Assembly Candidate Michele Sanders sent a letter to lobbyists asking for support and money. That's nothing unusual; candidates ask for money and support all the time. Unfortunately for Munn, there is a sentence in her letter that states "My campaign is well-organized and being run by Billy Rogers and Steve Wark."

Billy Rogers? Word is Munn immediately called Rogers and confronted him with the news of the letter and Rogers denies that he is working on the race and told Munn that he never authorized the use of his name.

Holy, unbelievable mystery batman! Could it be that someone used Rogers name without permission? Could it be that "B" list political consultant Steve Wark? Or could it be that Michele Sanders wrote the letter herself and never asked permission to use her consultant's names? Yep, that's the ticket - Michele wrote the letter.

I don't think Michele did it. No, my little cape crusaders, this smells like the work of dirty political trickster Steve Wark. Chances are, Billy Rogers is telling the truth. Heck, I don't think he even knows who Michele Sanders is.

Here's the likely scenario, in my opinion, of course.

Steve Wark hasn't won a race since Pete Ernaut plucked him out of obscurity to be "grassroots" coordinator for Kenny Guinn's governor's race, which by the way had no competition. The position allowed this nit-wit Wark to become a grassroots genius. It's a title that to this day Pete Ernaut rues because like many of us, he believes Wark is a Dork.

What's my proof? One only has to look at the last couple of election cycles. Wark ran several races. In fact, he ran them right into the ground. One race that comes to mind is his mother-in-law Earlene Forsythe. He had all the money in the world and got his butt whooped by then 25-year-old Francis Allen and then there's Senator Ray Rawson race, another race where Wark had all the money in the world and lost to Bob Beers, hey maybe it was the candidates fault, yea that's it. There's just two examples of the Steve Wark loss record that we could spend days covering the rest. All of this grassroots-genius' train wrecks equals goose egg, nada, nothing … big loser.

That's when I believe Stevie boy decided to hook up with a Democrat named Billy Rogers.

Who is Billy Rogers?

Billy Rogers is a Democrat from Texas, who I've met and spent some time with. I have to admit he's a charming fellow who could sell ice to the Eskimos, screw them on the price, and they'd go away saying, "I sure like that Billy." Billy Rogers has a grassroots background unlike his partner Steve Wark. He has had success doing petitions throughout the country. He came to Nevada via, the marijuana petition, but after a massive disaster upon turning in the marijuana petitions, turns out someone had left a couple of boxes under a desk in the office and the petition didn't have enough signatures to qualify. Bummer dude!

So, how did Steve Wark end up partners with the Pot Dude?

You know that's even a funnier story, because Steve Wark sells himself off as a conservative Christian leader. So you can imagine how surprised conservative Christians were to find out that one their spiritual leaders was teaming up with a liberal "Pot legalization specialist" Democrat. Yep, Christianity and marijuana go together so well. I bet most of Wark's Christian followers don't know of new business relationship.

My view of Steve Wark is he's a lot like televangelist Jimmy Swarggart - he lies, lies, lies and then asks for forgiveness when he gets caught. That's the Steve Wark I know. It's easy to know when he's lying - just wait for him to open his mouth.

But I digress; we're talking about Wark the grassroots genius, who took such a beating last election cycle he lost all creditability. Even though Rogers had a mishap with the Dope petition, he still had a great reputation as a grassroots operator. So, Wark convinced Democrat Rogers to form a company called "Third Rail" to run both Democrat and Republican campaigns. All the sudden, Wark has instant creditability all over again.

Forget the fact that Rogers has spent his entire career running races against Republicans; that didn't matter to Ol' Stevie. What matters to Stevie boy is money and lots of it. Steve Wark doesn't care about the Republican philosophy; he cares about money that's obvious by the amount he's charging Republican candidates to run their races. Word is, he charges Assembly candidates $60,000 and Senate candidates $120,000. And for what?

If anyone knows, please let me know. Billy? Steve? Feel free to call and let me know. You have my numbers.

So, what's the bottom line to my rant today? Michele Sanders. She's just another victim of the Wark shell game. I sure hope she hasn't given him any of her money, because alas when the race is over, Steve Wark won't remember her name.
