Zigler and Saab Lofton have something in common
Mr. Zigler:
I enjoyed your column in Liberty Watch magazine [“Gravedigger,” April]. It reminded me of a Saab Lofton column — “riddled with quantum leaps and statements of lunacy.”
Good luck in your future endeavors.

Gotta agree with your Schumacher assessment
Best wishes for your success with Liberty Watch magazine. It looks great and has refreshing and well-written content.
I totally agree with your Mercury/CityLife assessment of Schumacher. My experience during my sincere and diligently conducted gubernatorial campaign in 2002 was that Mr. Schumacher and all of the controlled Nevada press were worse than China in silencing any dissenting political voice.

First edition proved to be enjoyable and enlightening
Congratulations! Frankly, I was very surprised that the first edition is so superb. When magazines have a few interesting articles, I see them as doing their job. But I actually found — page after Liberty Watch page — that I read them all. I learned from some, but enjoyed each.
As I started to read it, I thought Bob Beers’ article was silly, having made the drive to Carson City (the wrong way) and finding it like driving on the moon. But when I actually read it, I realized that I might fly to Reno for the end of the session and drive back.
Here are a few ideas: Offer a page in the next edition that tells the magazine’s purpose; consider a “Readers’ Writings” column covering submissions that fit the mag’s mission; and consider a “Courting Controversy” column that presents opposing views on the hottest political subject at the time of each issue.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to become a subscriber. I suggest you keep a list of all your original subscribers and advertisers, and every five years throw another party to celebrate the publication’s success.

Slam on Schumacher was more than mistaken
Mike:
First, congrats on the new gig. I'm a proud liberal/libertarian, but I’m all for more voices. I hope you guys hang for the long haul.
Second, I’ve got to take issue with your slam on Geoff Schumacher. True, he’s a stubborn liberal; no argument there. To you that’s a bad thing; to me, it’s cool. But that’s not where I would like to humbly suggest you’re mistaken.
You might not like his op-eds, you may not like his layouts, you may not like his management style, but I don’t think anybody can credibly argue that Geoff is a lightweight journalist. And I should know, having worked for Geoff at the Sun, CityLife and Mercury. That’s my take.
I think CityLife stays on top not because of any one person or their contribution, but because of name recognition. A new publication in this town takes years before people even know it’s around, much less what’s in it. Mercury could eventually have become well-known, but it would have taken too much time and money.
Again, congrats on the new title. Looking forward to future issues.
