When it comes to Ralston no one describes him like Liberty Watch
Loved the article on Ralston ["The Real Ralston Report," March]. No one knows him better than Liberty Watch.

Latest issue on Ralston earns the big cojones award
I recently received the latest copy of Liberty Watch and really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for the great reporting on Jon Ralston ["The Real Ralston Report," March]. He's scum who thinks he's untouchable. Thank God Liberty Watch reared its head a year ago. Solid reporting was needed in Nevada. I'm glad to see an outlet with balls bigger than Ralston's ego.

Ralston's sidekick comes to his defense

Assuming your other articles receive the same lack of attention to accuracy and basic journalistic principles as your hit piece on Jon ["The Real Ralston Report," March], count me out [of a subscription].
The errors in your story were numerous and the misconceptions you fostered even more plentiful. Although Jon is unfazed by your vitriol and prefers to dismiss it, I find this a rather divine opportunity to tell you what I think of your "work."
We have just marked our five-year anniversary producing "Face to Face." That amounts to somewhere around 1,200 programs. I have been instrumental, and often solely responsible, for selecting the topics and guests for those programs. Not once has the thought of Billy Vassiliadis' clients, interests or desires even entered my mind. Your thesis, that Jon is carrying Billy's water, is so far off base it is laughable. Apparently you have not watched our program or read his column with any regularity. Or, as your reporting indicates, you simply display a reckless disregard for the truth.
Ralston covers stories no one else cares about? If, by that, you mean we pick up on stories others miss, you're correct. And that's a bad thing? Our ratings contradict your assertion that no one cares.
Truly troubling is your willingness to malign others in your attempt to hurt Jon. It is unconscionable, especially given the fact Jon has made a career of avoiding vile attacks on the personal lives of those he covers.
Jon is fully capable of defending himself and, I suppose, would be fair game for complete and honest reporting. But your reporting is neither. And although Jon is a public figure, you seem to hold him to a standard befitting an elected official. Oscar Goodman, who uses city resources or his live-in designated driver to escape a drunk driving arrest, publicly called for Jon to lose his job when he was arrested ... yet you let his "I took the high road" remark go unchallenged? Which other members of the media are you holding to these higher standards? I'd like to know who among us passes the muster.
The dark side of Las Vegas didn't come home to roost the night Jon got arrested. The dark side of Las Vegas thrives daily deep in the bowels of irresponsible, envious lunkheads like you and George Harris.
I could go on and on, but frankly, you and your ilk are not worth it. There will always be a place in this community for Jon. There will never be a place in this community, nor in the world of journalism, for a sleazy publication like yours.
Oh, and contrary to your sexist and patronizing presumptions, Jon didn't tell me to say this.

Yours in the interest of accuracy,
Dana Gentry

Liberty Watch needs more visibility in north town
I suggest placing more Liberty Watch newsstands in North Las Vegas. I'm a subscriber, but I've found that many colleagues want their own copies of Liberty Watch grilling this Ralston joker. Thanks for your contribution to the Las Vegas community.

Thanks for a lot of things, however, the March cover was off its mark
Thanks for standing up for our poor mayor. And thanks again for trying to promote the notion that the Walters deal is good for the city. I finally got the time to go back and read the stuff in the Sun about the Walters juice job; oh wait, I mean magnanimous gift to the city. Brian Greenspun almost brought me to tears in writing about how bad a deal it was for his buddy. However, for some reason, his pal still wants to go through with it. What a philanthropist. I guess that's what most shrewd businessmen would do in his shoes.
Also, thanks for printing a crossword puzzle with the clue for #58 down missing. It wouldn't have been so bad if the clue for #74 across wasn't crap (i.e., "reads" doesn't necessarily mean "understands"). But I managed to solve it anyway, which is more than I can say for most of your readers.
I think that just about covers it. Have a grand day.
