        Post Office

I'm visiting the polls soon, so remind me who you endorsed

I am a subscriber to your magazine, and I am trying to fill out my voter ballot and I cannot remember who you had endorsed in certain races. Could you please call?

I'm an independent who enjoys your magazine

Suddenly, on Nov. 2, there appeared, in my mailbox, a copy of the October 2006 issue of Liberty Watch, a publication that I had not previously seen.
Politically, I am a recovering Republican who has always been a thinking independent, and is now a card-carrying nonpartisan. Those who know me are aware that I was born in Boston but left there at an early enough age to learn to speak English. I grew up in Washington, D.C., but independently developed the ability to think.
I read Liberty Watch from cover to cover and am quite impressed by the frequently bipartisan context of your diverse editorial content. Although I had already voted at the time that I received your publication, I did considerable due diligence on the ballot adversaries and issues and was not even microscopically swayed by the various points presented therein.
You have an interesting publication and I hope to see another issue before the next biennial election cycle.

I'm busy ignoring conservative views, so don't interrupt my precious time with Liberty Watch

I would like to be taken off the list for your magazine. I do not have any time to read this.

Since Airola lost, hopefully Gillespie will implement these changes

I met Jerry Airola at an NPRI luncheon back in the spring, and he was definitely certain he could change Metro for the better. Today is election day and he lost, so my thoughts are moot as Gillespie is not going to change much. If Gillespie were in the mood, here are my suggestions based on six years on the Metro Citizens Review Board, which gave me the opportunity to go on two ride-alongs during the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift.
The sheriff should have a study done on how their patrol police spend their time. Form what I observed at that time of night, they mostly deal with domestic violence and drug dealers in back alleys or young people smoking pot. Generally, they get to crime scenes well after the crime. They also use their computers to check on license plates of a few older cars to see if there are any warrants out against the owners.
From this less-than-scientific observation, I recommend Metro have domestic violence councilors be the first responders. The police are trained to find out who hit whom and take somebody to jail. There has to be a better way to handle these situations, and I don't believe policemen should be doing it unless there is a nasty battle going on.
Forget about dope dealers who are not bothering anybody. The marijuana initiative would have helped that happen, but it didn't pass.
Metro must be more proactive in looking for stolen cars. There are new devices that can read license plates with a computer that immediately indicates if the vehicle is stolen or has outstanding tickets or warrants against the probable driver. Perhaps the retired cops Jerry wants to bring back could drive cars with those devices mounted in them.
Also, Gillespie must allow the cops on patrol to wear shorts in the summer, if they wish. This came from a policeman who I met while pumping gas back in August. He wanted Jerry to win.
While on the subject of uniforms, I agree they look very professional, but they are too military. Are they police or some kind of occupying army?
Finally, get rid of the union. As you noted in your October issue, the Metro Citizens Review Board had to agree that policemen involved in a complaint needed be subpoenaed.
However, it was very difficult for the review board to function and we had to make a trip to the Nevada Supreme Court. If the policemen don't give their side of the incident, how can we conduct an investigation?
As you can see, I have more to say about what to change than Mr. Airola. Maybe that's one of the reasons he lost.
P.S. I read Liberty Watch from cover to cover!

How dare you use the post office to send me your publication!

I want my name removed from your list. I do not want it! I do not want it! I want to speak to somebody live. I will call Monday. I don't think it's fair. I did not order it and how dare you give me it!

Yeah, go ahead and remove my name from your mailing list

I'd like to cancel your magazine. I would like to not receive Liberty Watch.

Take your publication and shove its conservative message!
I received a copy of Liberty Watch and I don't know how I got on your subscription list, but please take me off it immediately. I don't want to receive your magazine ever again. Thank you.

I'm a brainwashed union slave who dislikes Jerry Airola and Lynette Boggs McDonald - so leave me alone!
To start with, I don't know or care how you got my name on your mailing list, but please remove it. As a proud, card-carrying member of IATSE [International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees] Local #720 here in Las Vegas, I have no interest in your corporate, union-bashing pablum you print.
I am sick to death, first of all, of hearing Ms. Boggs McDonald and her followers talking of the great union conspiracy to remove her from office and making her a victim. The only thing she is a victim of is an ugly divorce that was brought about by her own megalomania. No one forced her to run in a district outside of the one where she currently resides.
Furthermore, your endorsement of Jerry Airola, a man who has repeatedly lied in the press about numerous items, just shows how shallow, ignorant and gullible all of you truly are. Suffice it to say, I do not now, nor will I ever agree with your views, and I have no desire to read any of your pablum.
Also, by the way, any way you look at it, no matter what kind of argument you use against unions, shifting the power away from the big casinos (specifically MGM Mirage and its like) is anything but a bad thing.
