Ma Barker’s sucked and gave me indigestion
There was not much to brag about when I took Liberty Watch’s dining advice and visited Ma Barker’s [“Bloody good,” May]. The place is a cheap, rotten re-enactment of what was likely offered in the mob’s 1930s heyday. Today we have higher standards in Vegas, and Ma’s fails to meet them.
For anyone looking for a good burger joint, don’t stop at Ma’s. It’s tacky and its goofball retention scheme of giving unidentified food vouchers for future visits is misleading. The vouchers insist you not open them, as only a server can do so to ensure your free appetizer or pennies off a cola. If opened beforehand, well, you get nothing. Which brings me to my next point. I’d rather have nothing for days than eat another Ma Barker’s burger and experience the greasy pain in my chest like I did last night.
Liberty Watch should have reviewed McDonald’s, as I would’ve rather ignored a column about a product I’m familiar with than read a piece praising a joint I’m not.

UMC needs elected leaders like George Harris running the show
George Harris, for as much as he’s ridiculed, has some rare-to-find common sense in him. His UMC cover piece was dead-on [“UMC on fire,” May]. Problem is, no one’s going to do a damn thing about it. If only we could have candidates worth voting for and maintaining confidence in.
When is George running for office?

Heidi Harris needs a reality check on gun control
“Whenever a gun is used for any nefarious purpose, the gun control advocates practically salivate. They’ll never admit the obvious fact that if even one of the victims had been able to have a gun on campus, the number of Virginia Tech casualties would have been reduced.” This is Heidi’s summary paragraph of the nightmare at Virginia Tech [“Pointing the finger,” May].
When will you ignorant conservatives realize that your guns don’t do anything but produce havoc on the innocent?
