THE ISSUES

Any chance on a follow-up
story on the Kahre case?

I read your article [“Good as Gold,” November] about Robert Kahre’s court battle with the IRS. I am trying to find more details about this case to determine what impact, if any, it may have on my business dealings.
Do you happen to know which court ruled on this case and what the case number is? I haven’t been able to locate it searching on my own. Also, I hope you do a follow-up article. Thanks.

Americans rely too much
on TV for their news

Terrific article, Mr. French [“All the buzz,” July]. Americans as a whole are glued to the TV for all of their information. And if you happened to notice, Iran and Iraq are hardly mentioned, other than each country’s description of the subhuman people and their evil doings.

I’ve jumped through the hoops of
licensing, regulation and overtaxation

“License to Kill” [February] was a depressing read. I’m a small business owner in Southern Nevada and have experienced similar delays with my liquor licensing.
George Harris is either brave or ignorant to pick a fight with the powers that be. I happened to notice there was no byline on the article, which tells me that even the writer of your story is fearful of the government.
What has this country come to? Thomas Jefferson said, “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” George Harris must believe we still have liberty and the Liberty Watch writer must believe we have tyranny.
I believe we live in tyranny, where those in power believe harassment and force is a process the people must endure to exercise “freedoms.” I just want to run a business without government interference, but even after jumping through the licensing hoops of Clark County, I’m now serving my government kings in the form of unreasonable regulation and overtaxation.
Give me liberty or give me death, right? We’ve been granted death of liberty. On that note, I request that you withhold my name from this letter.
