Beers is the only Republican who can beat Titus

For those of you still sitting on the fences about who to vote for in Tuesday’s primary, I invite you to think ahead to the general election. Who will be able to defeat Dina Titus? The headline says it all.
Bob Beers is a clear-cut conservative. Titus is a clear-cut liberal. These two candidates are so polarized from one another, that the 186,948 nonpartisan voters will arrive at a crossroads — they will have to decide if they are a conservative or a liberal. With Nevada being a red state, I’m confident Beers will cruise to the governor’s mansion and Nevada’s future will be secure through 2010.
There’s been a lot of talk that Gibbons has all the money to win the general. Well, Beers will enjoy the business community’s financial support once he wins Tuesday’s election, just like the union’s money will follow Titus after her victory. What won’t win Gibbons the general is his record, which Titus would exploit more than her liberal plans for Nevada. I have no doubt that Titus will do what Beers did not...recruit a surrogate to file ethics charges against Gibbons for his Delta Airlines extortion confession. It’s too easy and with the Democratic machine salivating for power, I’m afraid it just might work.
On the other hand, a Beers-versus-Titus race would present an issue-based battle between true Republican values and a frightening liberal agenda. Gibbons’ embarrassing past should not provide Democrats an opportunity to hide their plans and sneak into office.
Lorraine Hunt is a wonderful lady who has served Nevada well for eight years. But the polls show she isn’t a contender. Knowing that, well, the headline says it all: Beers is the only Republican who can beat Titus.
