Is there anybody out there? Yeah, his name is Bob Beers
The headline of your June news story on the Bob Beers-Jim Gibbons primary race seemed to imply that no candidates are speaking at all ["Is there anybody out there?"]. I read about Beers in the papers all the time. I hear about him demanding a debate with the invisible Jim Gibbons nonstop.
Well, I learned that you knew this as well upon reading the story. However, page-flippers who read headlines and look at pictures might not have interpreted that.
I hope you did not do Bob a disservice for those who, as you note in the article, make blind decisions at the polls.

Liberty Watch is smarter than the likes (and rants) of Steve Sebelius
Thanks to a friend forwarding the link to me, I just read today's online rant by Steve Sebelius on your Maurice Washington cover story ["Gold Standard," June]. It's no surprise that I once again didn't see eye-to-eye with Stevie Boy on his viewpoint, but I'd like to share my thoughts on this one with you, Mr. Zigler.
As a Libertarian, I think the story's subhead works well. Washington is the standard that Republicans should and do follow. Fraud with public dollars, trying to manipulate the system, ethics violations. Bingo! That's the Republican (and Democratic) way.
Considering the interior of the magazine is mostly lined with intelligent Libertarian material - or propaganda, as Mr. Sebelius might judge - I intend to continue reading your publication, figuring that subhead was the subliminal message to a joke you were playing on less-fortunate readers like Mr. Sebelius.
One thing I can't figure out is why he [Sebelius] became so infuriated with this recent issue of Liberty Watch. I've always looked at your magazine as a great forum for conservatives to rant and share common ideas with fellow conservatives. He obviously considers Liberty Watch a legitimate news source. I was at your launch party last spring, and I still have your invitation. It said, "Dismiss Objectivity," which I found clever and continue to show friends who are curious about the publication.
Liberty Watch is a magazine for conservatives and Libertarians. If Maurice votes like someone who values small government (which he doesn't always do, but more so than Democrats), then report the positive qualities of this guy. It seems every other organization has the negatives covered.

French and John Mackey are right - Libertarians need a facelift
Doug French is, as always, articulate in his writings. He is able to walk readers through a pleasant step-by-step explanation of why his points make more sense than peanut butter, jelly and bread.
Doug nailed the problem with Libertarians on the head - we lack a strong public relations campaign ["Image lift," June]. While Doug stemmed his column off the words of Whole Foods CEO and founder John Mackey, Doug obviously believes the problem is true - otherwise he wouldn't have taken the time to share the problem with readers. Share my sympathies with Doug. We need a charismatic leader who can put forth a message that America responds to. We need someone who understands the delicacy of patience. Right now, Libertarians are too damn centered on being purists, and those people are frightening the hell out of the masses.
In other words, Libertarians need to find a young man who has public speaking skills equivalent to those of the major parties. He needs the insight and wit of those who compete with the best and brightest. In all honesty, Libertarians need to be as sly as the lost who lead us. Otherwise, we are nothing but a whisper in the crowd.

Gold took a hit, but the dollar still stinks
News turned sour on gold over the past week or so. Too bad the media wasn't as aggressive on the American dollar over a similar period.
Doug French is always atop his golden game. I hope his message was well-received ["Just Getting Started," May] despite the poor press gold recently experienced.

TV doesn't need experts; it needs losers who think TV fosters them
If anybody actually thinks TV stock folks are go-to people for advice on the stock market, well, they deserve what they get. John Stossel's story ["Don't put stock in TV experts," May] is a no-brainer.
If morons watching "reality TV"-filled tubes rely on major networks to provide objective evidence that points toward individual riches, then I hope one day that I will get to witness their reality on television. Mom wasting away John's college savings because of some well-financed, no-namer's advice? That's TV, baby!
